Get your girlfriend and head to the Arlo SoHo
Lunching with a girlfriend to catch up and to share the good the bad and the ugly is always uplifting, especially when it turns into urban camping.
Recently my friend Dawn of PlumAGE 59 and I met up in SoHo and enjoyed camping in NYC. If you’re unfamiliar with Urban Camping, this article from Apartment Therapy offers an introduction to an incredible experience in NYC that Dawn and I enjoyed.
We grazed in Harold’s Meat and Three in the Arlo SoHo. The Arlo was offering something nifty- urban camping by Tentrr in the Middle of Soho. Imagine that! A fun thing to do, right?
I’m a country mouse for sure and even though I prefer the country over the city, I frequently visit Manhattan for a few days out of the week to catch up on what’s new. It rejuvenates me and it’s true vice versa for those seeking the great outdoors to escape the hustle and bustle of city living.
If ever you felt like you need to leave the city because it’s too loud, crowded, busy, and polluted, I understand. Recently I had the niftiest experience of URBAN CAMPING at the Arlo Soho Hotel in the SoHo area of NYC.
Yes, you heard me right. A pretty basic concept for those that love the great outdoors but find it difficult to leave the city. This boutique hotel featured a limited pop-up camping experience for guests complete with hand-sewn canvas tents decorated with Adirondack chairs, sofas, country tables, and rugs. They created the perfect camp-like experience under fairy lights suitable for sipping a cocktail while playing a board game with friends. The ideal getaway while still in NYC. I found it to be delightfully playful and emotionally relaxing at the same time.
My friend Dawn met me at Harold’s Meat and Three, a restaurant in the hotel, to have lunch. Dawn of PlumAGE 59 is a real JOY to lunch with and it was her idea to hang out and experience this first hand.
If you don’t know her blog, hop over to her site for a visit. Dawn talks about women with style at a PLUM age, who are not bound by age or even high street fashion but instead enjoy celebrating their own life and having fun.
Harold’s Meat and Three’s down south Nashville style menu offered the perfect salad even for a finicky vegetarian such as myself and after a long relaxed chat and catching up we headed outside to check out these tents the hotel had set up.
Thank you, Dawn, it was such a fun afternoon, so much so I didn’t want it to end.
After a day of urban camping with Dawn, on my way to the subway, I couldn’t help but notice the many layers of architecture and how it’s evolved.
NYC always re-energizes me and gets my creative juices flowing. Urban camping in SoHo with my girlfriend? It makes my experience in NYC even more rejuvenating.
