Organizing things in a placeneat and tidy simplifies each day.
If you don’t have a handle on your things, they have a hold on you.
Life is liberating when you know exactly where to find your “stuff.”
More important, you know exactly what you own and need.
Irritability and frustration quickly set in anytime I misplace an item.
Coincidentally most items seem to be “lost” when I’m in a hurry. I tend to act out for the boys to witness a free show of
“Mom goes bonkers.”
Honestly, acting out of control or sometimes not being very nice, makes any child feel as if it was their fault. I know that’s not a positive example to set.
Has that ever happened to you?
So I’m not insinuating that I’ve achieved perfection in our home by any means.
The fact is, however, that I work at keeping certain levels of neatness allowing for what I call slow home living.
You all figured out by now that housework will never ever stop.
But at least if we maintain our homes with joy and pride, the work doesn’t become totally overwhelming.
Isn’t that what we all really want out of life? Control over ourselves and our “stuff.” I find that when I make time to tidy things and put them back in their place (though ideally this is done by all members in our house), I have fewer of those chaotic and stressful moments looking for “lost” item.
Do we buy for the sake of buying or buy because there is a real need?
I make a list; a “to buy list” and if the item never gets crossed off this list, then inevitably we don’t need it.
How many times do you buy an item to find that you own it already?
I get extremely upset because I know the “not knowing” has cost us money. Remember time is money when items need to be returned.
Do you have time to waste?
Be the boss of your home by leading through example.
Remember you are the role model for your family.
