Simply put, you should work with a mentor to grow your business because mentors are people who already are doing what you want to do. They offer the opportunity to pinpoint precisely what you need to achieve to help you and your business prosper.
Why I hired Kristy Rice as my mentor.
About five years ago, I was introduced to Kristy’s watercolors via the beautiful floral artwork she had done for a slow flower friend’s website Jennie Love. As an entrepreneur in the floral wedding business, I was drawn to all things floral. Kristi’s expressive watercolor work took my breath away and captured my imagination.
I began to think of how I could incorporate watercolor in my floral business. ” I could do that,” I naively thought to myself but immediately then took a chance and signed up for her online class. Soon, my adventure with watercolor began. Even before Zoom was a thing, she rigged up an online course for a small group and introduced us to a world I’d only dreamed of. The world of creative expression through mark making with watercolor.

Lesson learned because I took a chance to leave the fear of not knowing “how to watercolor” behind and took Kristy’s class. I now turned those skills learned into an opportunity post-Covid. My wedding business closed, but I found an “opportunity” somewhere else.
Long story short, Kristi had imprinted her #ArtforJoySake into my heart. Providing me the confidence and spirit to show up daily to create what I know call #dailyartliftsthespirt. A daily practice I’ve turned into my new business.
During the lockdown, I asked if she would coach me one-on-one. I was finally working with a mentor to grow my own business! Kristy helped me in so many ways, but tangibly, she helped me understand the marketplace. How to best position my new business to better serve my customers. I took a five-session course with her. She listened to all my stress points and tailored each class specifically for me to reach my goals.
