Afterthoughts of Christmas ~
I’m sitting here in my living room and it’s in the early morning two days after Christmas, while everyone is in bed after the holiday.
The days following Christmas are incredibly satisfying and just as important as the hustle and bustle of the lead-up. It’s important to look back now at the accomplishments large and small that just took place. The micro planning, decorating, prepping, and orchestrating all to show our appreciation for those we love.
Showing you care
Hard work is easy to hide from and most of us procrastinate the myriad of daily goals we set for ourselves. The lack of consistent follow-through leaves us unhappy. But, an interesting thing I’ve noticed over the years is this; if you manage to put together a big two or three-day party for your family to show you care, and your feet are finally up after the whirlwind, it’s important to stop for a moment and praise yourself for the hard work of bringing the people you love together over the holidays.
Be kind to yourself
Look at what you’ve done. If you’ve kept a journal, maybe one assigned specifically for your holidays, where you keep records and organize all your gift ideas, menus for parties, along with decorating inspiration – make time to review it. Now is the time to write a recap. How did you do? What would change or hope to do better next year? And more importantly – how were you feeling during this Holiday?
Acknowledge your hard work and maybe even write “thank you ” to yourself in your journal for a job well done.
